 Ambassador Duties

What Do Uplift Ambassadors Do?

Uplift Ambassadors help with the promotion and execution of Uplift events. In their schools, they do outreach to other youth to talk about Uplift and the benefits of attending one of our virtual events. This outreach might include speaking at school assemblies, hosting a sign-up event, posting or sharing marketing materials, and utilizing social media to share official Uplift content.

Prior to Uplift, Ambassadors help spread the word about Uplift, assist other Youth in signing up for events, and work with Uplift staff to ensure the people they sign up stay excited about Uplift and attend the full event.

During Uplift, Ambassadors are partnered with Uplift Staff, such as our Small Group Leaders to help facilitate group break out sessions, model exercises, and share their own, personal lived experience. Beyond Uplift, Ambassadors have the opportunity to become Group Leaders themselves, or even work with Uplift in an official staff capacity.

Uplift Ambassadors have the opportunity to earn money in their role, as well. You get paid for every person you sign up who attends the Event. You get $10 per person at the end of Day one and an additional $6 per person who completes the full four day event. That’s a total of $16 per person!

How Do You Become An Ambassador?

It is likely that you have already taken the first step! Attending one of our 4 day virtual Uplift events is the first requirement. But, it’s possible you heard about the Ambassador program from a friend and still need to attend Uplift yourself. If that’s the case, please visit our events page to see what dates are upcoming this year.

After you complete Uplift, you can let your group leader know that you’re interested in becoming an Ambassador. We will evaluate your participation during Uplift, along with your online application to determine if you should progress to a phone interview with our Uplift Coordinator.

After you complete your interview, if selected for the Ambassador program, you have the opportunity to participate in any of the following pathways that interest you! You can do one or you can do all 3. To learn more about each of the options, click the graphic below.

RECRUITING

Ambassadors serve as official representatives of Uplift in their schools, communities, and online. Our Recruitment Ambassadors do outreach to other Youth to help explain what Uplift is and how it helps Youth navigate current, real world challenges.
Whether it is speaking during a school assembly, hosting a sign-up drive on campus, or helping promote Uplift on social media, recruiting is one of the most important ways to help spread the energy of Uplift.

We will help provide you with all the support you need, including access to marketing flyers you can post, approved social media graphics, and tips and tricks to improve your sign up numbers. We will also work with you in areas of concern you might have including your writing skills, public speaking prep, etc.

And don’t forget that you get PAID for every person you register who attends Uplift!

PEER SUPPORT

Ambassadors can also serve as junior level peer support, mostly within chat during Uplift events, but potentially on other platforms, such as our Twitch and Discord channels! You will be trained on how to respond to requests, who to escalate to if you need backup and support, and how to assist or direct people who encounter tech issues.

Providing support and encouragement in the chat during Uplift is a very important role to make Uplift events a success. If you feel like this is an area you want to explore more, please remember to let us know when you apply!
